A Brief Backstory
Having grown up in both Los Angeles, California and Corvallis, Oregon, I've been able to experience both the busy metropolitan life and quiet countryside living. Both locations hold a special place in my heart.
I am currently a Master's student at The George Washintgon University in Washington DC, where I am in the first year of an M.A International Affairs program. As an undergraduate student I studied at Occidental College, where I am studying Diplomacy and World Affairs and East Asian Studies, with a minors in Japanese Studies and Linguistics. I am interested in peacebuilding and conflict resolution, and learning about the structure and and mechanics of the United Nations.
Here are a few things about me:
- A few of my favorite books are: Project Japan: Metabolism Talks by Rem Koolhaas and Hans Obrist, the Cradle series by Will Wight, and anything by R.A Salvatore
- I love playing the Piano and Ukulele, as well as training MMA and playing tennis
- I am interested in and passionate about humanitarian aid efforts and human rights as a whole; the call to action for human rights issues I find self-evident, but there are many interesting paths that can be explored when it comes to preventing human rights violations and setting up sustainable international peace initiaves
- I love learning new languages, Currently I'm proficient in Spanish, Japanese, and I'm interested in learning many more such as Chinese and Vietnamese!
- My favorite class I've taken was The United Nations and Conflict Prevention: Actors and Architecture, a course on the structure of the United Nations, its successes and failures, and its role in security, peacebuilding, and development
